The following steps do not remove 100% of the H&E stain (which appears as autofluorescence on the slide); however, most slides should be interpretable when these steps are followed.

  1. Remove coverslip and incubate in 65ºC Pretreatment Solution (1M sodium thiocynate) for 45 minutes. Residual staining may be visible, but will be removed by the Paraffin Pretreatment Assay.
  2. Proceed with Vysis standard Paraffin Pretreatment Assay.
